Why Read This Report

This report outlines Forrester's solution for infrastructure and operations (I&O) leaders to benchmark the performance of their business continuity (BC) programs as part of their broader business technology resiliency initiative. Continual improvement through benchmarks is important because in today's digital age, if IT is unavailable, the business is unavailable. The benchmarks found in this report are the result of several years of market studies on BC and disaster recovery (DR) developed in partnership by Forrester and the Disaster Recovery Journal. Specific benchmarks include the adoption of formal and ongoing BC management programs, the frequency of business impact analysis (BIA) and risk assessments (RAs), the scope of BC plans, the frequency and type of testing, and lessons learned from BC plan invocations. I&O leaders should use the benchmarks to adjust and improve their BC strategy and subsequent people, process, and technology investments.
