Yes, it is time to change the branding of IT. If we look at the history BT may not sound totally new, as the expansion for IBM is: International Business Machines.
I referred in my paper 'Breaking The Barriers to IT', IT as technology's technology, and/ or connecting thread of for technologies. Probably, we reached a time, to drop technology word altogether, and call it as Business Enabler. Why this makes sense. Look at any field of human endeavour, there were enabling instruments being developed over the span of human civilization. And all these became part of life (for example, spoon, fork etc.), and technology became indistinguishable. Why not, we drop all T's; and start referring at as Business Enabler! As it rightly sounds, if the CIO cannot lead, he will become a 'business disabler.'
