Now a days we are becoming more global than ever. Merger and acquisitions, strategic alliances, partnerships, etc are happening constantly and placing a great pressure on technology to become a cornerstone.
These changes have forced technology to evolve and see beyond the business but also within the enterprise. Maybe IT should evolve to ET (Enterprise Technology, thus encompassing more than the business but also the stakeholders and the employees, crossing borders, countries, continents ant time zones. Clearly the CTO is receiving more pressure to make technology more available across borders so that decision making/taking are closer and closer to the customer.
