Doug serves Consumer Product Strategy Professionals and leads Forrester’s research on open innovation and co-creation. Doug helps clients understand how open innovation can be leveraged to improve product and service innovation. He also advises clients on the necessary cultural and management readiness changes that they must embrace in order to make open innovation initiatives successful. Doug is also a recognized thought leader on the subject of co-creation, particularly with respect to the use of social technologies to involve consumers and/or customers throughout the product development process.
Previously, Doug led Forrester's North American coverage of consumer broadband and communications. Doug came to Forrester through its acquisition of JupiterResearch, where he led research in the same area. He has been quoted in major media outlets, including The Wall Street Journal and The New York Times.
Doug was the founder and president of DSW Consulting, a consulting firm focusing on regulation, economics, and public policy in the telecommunications market. He analyzed regulatory issues and markets, prepared expert witness testimony, and provided regulatory consulting and litigation assistance to public- and private-sector clients. His areas of expertise included local wireline competition policy and market analysis, market structure, broadband and VoIP services, and price cap and other forms of alternative telecommunications regulation. Before that, he was vice president and partner at Economics and Technology, a Boston-based research and consulting firm specializing in telecommunications regulation.
Doug holds a B.A. in economics, cum laude, from Brandeis University.
