Research Focus

Navi serves Vendor Strategy professionals. He leads Forrester's research on how globalized innovation — with the rise of India and China as both a source and market for tech innovations — is driving new collaborative market structures and organizational models, which Forrester designates as "Global Innovation Networks." He advises senior corporate, and government execs worldwide on new organizational designs and public policies that their firm or region must adopt to sustain global competitiveness through technology-enabled business and societal innovation.
From 1999 to 2004, Navi served as Forrester's lead supply chain analyst — advising manufacturers and retailers around the world on best practices that drive collaborative product development, integrate transnational supply chains, and deliver proactive customer service. Navi has had wide exposure in national and international media, including The Wall Street Journal, The Economist, The Washington Post, BusinessWeek, Financial Times, Le Monde, and Nikkei Shimbun. He is a frequent speaker to senior executive groups and has spoken at conferences organized by the World Economic Forum, Council on Foreign Relations, the Nomura Research Institute, The Conference Board, Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE), Milken Institute, Harvard University, and MIT. Navi's columns and articles have appeared in prestigious trade publications like BusinessWeek and Supply Chain Management Review.
Navi currently serves on the advisory board of The Bay Area Council Economic Institute in San Francisco. Supply & Demand Chain Executive magazine named Navi one of the "Pros to Know," honoring an elite group of professionals who have excelled in improving the use of supply chain technology and best practices within corporations. Navi received the award for introducing the concept of "Adaptive Supply Networks (ASN)," which describes globally distributed value chains that are event-driven, real-world-aware, and self-regulating. Navi was also honored by the Financial Times for his co-authored work on National Innovation Networks — the first-ever ranking of countries by their collaborative aptitude to integrate innovation capabilities across multiple regions — calling it "ambitious" and "sophisticated."

Previous Work Experience

Prior to joining Forrester, Navi worked as IT consultant in Asia. In Singapore, as a consultant to the National Computer Board, he contributed to the launch of its Center for Strategic Process Innovation. While working in Thailand, for the Ministry of Science, he built an intranet system that in 1998 was recognized by the Smithsonian Institution as a best example of technological innovation and given a place in its permanent research collection. Before he came to Asia, Navi worked as a development analyst at IBM’s Toronto Software Lab.
