Research Focus

Kerry serves Customer Experience professionals. She works with them to create more engaging — and profitable — online experiences. Her research explores how user-centered design processes, design-centric corporate cultures, and organizational structure contribute to the creation and sustainability of superior customer experiences. She also covers the interactive design agency industry and advises Customer Experience professionals about how to get the most out of agency partnerships.
Kerry was instrumental in the development of many of Forrester's evaluation methodologies, including the Web Site Review, Kiosk Review, Blog Review, and Persona Review.

Previous Work Experience

Prior to joining Forrester, Kerry was an interaction designer at BodyMedia, a developer of wearable body monitoring technology, where she designed Web and mobile software applications to accompany a medical device. Working with the Office of Naval Research, Kerry designed and developed a natural language-based multimodal interface for a wearable maintenance documentation system. During the dot-com boom, she managed the Web design and development team at Intraware, a provider of electronic software delivery services. Her Web experience dates back to 1995, when she designed an early online product catalog for AT&T Bell Laboratories. She has also worked as a management consultant for PricewaterhouseCoopers.

Kerry keynoted Forrester's 2007 Marketing Forum and has spoken at Forrester's Consumer Forum and IT Forum, in addition to speaking and moderating panels at industry events including ad:tech, KioskCom, the Kiosk Show, and the annual Usability Professionals Association conference. She regularly contributes to publications like SelfServiceWorld and 1to1 Magazine and serves as the management community editor for Interactions magazine, published by the Association for Computing Machinery's special interest group for computer-human interaction.

Education

Kerry holds a master's degree in human-computer interaction from Carnegie Mellon University and an undergraduate degree in cognitive science and psychology from Indiana University. Her graduate design research focused on the areas of wearable computing, kinetic typography, and robotic devices.
