| Name of survey: | Enterprise Software Survey |
|---|---|
| Product: | Forrester's Forrsights For Business Technology |
| Date of survey: | September 2006 |
| Region: | North America and Europe |
| Respondents: | 1,078 |
The purpose of this study was to analyze trends in software technology adoption in North America and Europe. The survey looks at software budgets, application software, infrastructure and platform software, application development, and professional software services. Further attention is paid to service-oriented architecture (SOA), open source software, and software-as-a-service (SaaS). Forrester surveyed 1,078 software decision-makers at North American and European enterprises. Of these, 737 are from North American enterprises and 341 are from European enterprises. The sample was composed of 23% senior-most IT decision-makers, 30% executives reporting directly to the senior-most IT decision-maker, and 48% managers in IT reporting directly to an executive. Forty-eight percent of respondents were from companies with 1,000 to 4,999 employees, 27% were from companies with 5,000 to 19,999 employees, and the remaining 25% were from companies with 20,000 or more employees. We screened all respondents for significant involvement in the purchasing process of software technologies. Fifty-four percent of respondents were also significantly involved with software services decision-making. Evalueserve fielded the telephone-based survey in July and August 2006 and motivated the respondents by offering them a summary of the results.
