Happy New Year!

I hope you all had a restful holiday. With 2004 behind us, I'm looking forward to the new year and the many opportunities to work more closely with new and current Council members (there are now more than 30 of you). I'm excited to make the following announcements:

2005 Database Marketing Benchmark
You will be happy to know that the 2005 Database Marketing Benchmark survey is nearly ready to go into the field. We hope to collect a wide sample of data from the Council as well as from our larger research panel. Those of you who indicated that you would like to have a hand in the survey questions will get an early glimpse of the survey tool next week. The survey will gather data on the following topics:
- Key interests/pains for direct/database marketers.
- Organizational structure.
- Budgets.
- Service providers and technology.
- Privacy legislation and compliance.

Please expect the Benchmark Survey in a week or so and don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.

Intoducing Jonah Rudman, Council Specialist
I am very pleased to introduce Jonah Rudman, the most recent addition to the Forrester Marketing Councils team. Jonah will be working with me to support you, as well as our other Marketing Oval members on the Email & Interactive Marketing Council.

Before joining Forrester Research, Jonah spent the past five years working in the field of technology-focused public relations. Most recently, he worked as a senior account executive at Lois Paul & Partners, a nationally renowned PR agency, where he provided technology companies like Copernic and Nortel Networks with strategic PR and marketing communications counsel. Jonah is a welcome addition to the Marketing Councils.

As always, if you have any questions, need assistance with a project, or would just like to bounce an idea off another Council member, please don't hesitate to contact me. I am here to help!
