The next Marketing Councils member meeting has tentatively been scheduled for May 23 to 25 in Florida. We are in the process of finalizing an exact location, and will provide a detailed agenda once it becomes available.
Have you (or has a member of your team) recently built a marketing data warehouse? If so, please email me if you would be willing to share some of your experiences (good and bad) with a fellow Council member.
In what will no doubt go down as one of the more unfortunate database marketing errors in recent years, online retailer and catalog company Eziba.com was forced to shut down after mailing its entire fall catalog run to the wrong list of customers -- specifically those least likely to purchase. Greetings, Database Marketing Council members,
I've spoken with many of you over the past few weeks, and it seems like everyone has plenty of new projects and initiatives underway for 2005. This is great news, as all this activity will no doubt translate into some excellent conversations and meetings for the months ahead. This, of course, brings me to our next conference call.
Our next CouncilTel is scheduled for
February 24 at 1 p.m. Eastern time. I have asked Acxiom's Josh Herman, product leader for Personicx, to join us to discuss the following topics:
- Best practices for using a tool like Personicx to expose a wider corporate audience to life-stage segmentation.
- Examples of how Personicx is used in the finance, retail, and travel industries.
- A candid review of how Personicx differs from other segmentation tools.
I see this as an excellent opportunity to build on our 2004 call on life-stage segmentation and hear the latest from Acxiom on the Personicx product. Please note that I will not share call participant information with Josh, and members can remain anonymous if they wish. Josh assures me that this call will not be an advertisement for his product, but rather an open dialogue and Q&A on life-stage segmentation.
Please let me know before the call if you have particular topics you would like Josh to address or any specific questions you would like him to consider ahead of time. If you plan on joining us for this call, RSVP, and I will follow up with WebEx instructions.
Our other future calls include:
- March 17, 1 p.m. Eastern time: "Managing The Database Marketing Skills Gap/Learning Curve"
- May 19, 1 p.m. Eastern time: "Exploring The Continuum Of Database Marketing From Operational Service Bureau To Proactive, Strategic Resource"
Please pencil them in on your calendars.
As always, if you have any questions, need assistance with a project, or would just like to bounce an idea off another Council member, please don't hesitate to contact me. I am here to help!
