Managers at all levels of application development and delivery struggle to retain talented applications professionals amidst tight budgets, burgeoning workloads, and a host of other challenges. A recent Forrester survey reveals that hiring and retaining apps professionals presents a challenge or a significant challenge for nearly 80% of respondents, that the most-critical shortages are not for technical skills, and that respondents expect staffing problems to worsen over the next three years. Applications professionals must act now to avoid even more problems. Status quo recruiting, compensation, and retention programs are barely keeping pace with today's challenges — they will not be enough to counteract the looming competition for applications professionals.
