Related Ways to Take Action Widget

The Related Ways to Take Action Widget makes it brilliantly easy for any blogger or web producer to harness their content for social change. You simply place the widget on your blog or website and it displays related calls to action from Change.org, Kiva.org, DonorsChoose.org, GlobalGiving, Care2, Idealist.org, and fourteen other social action platforms.

The widget works by automatically scanning the content of each web page on which it appears and identifying the top three keywords for that page. The widget then searches those keywords on 20 social action platforms and instantly loads the top three matches, with the option to discover more.

The Widget has been described as "AdWords for social change" - since instead of displaying relevant advertisements — it shares relevant ways to make a difference.

The Related Ways to Take Action Widget was built by Social Actions Labs, is open-source (GPL V.3), and is powered by SocialActions.com's Open API.

Our goal with the Related Ways to Take Action Widget is to raise awareness of and connect people to opportunities to take action. The widget accomplishes this goal by connecting people to causes at just the right time and place to inspire action.

Imagine if you're reading a blog about issues surrounding poverty and you saw an action recommended in the blog\'s sidebar to help fund an entrepreneur in the developing world on Kiva.org. Wouldn't you be more likely to give?

The Related Ways to Take Action widget has been covered or added by NTEN, Gilbert, TechSoup, Idealware, Beth Kanter, Amy Sample Ward and many other prominent bloggers — connecting their collective 1000s of readers to related ways to take action. We hope and plan to reach out to lots more bloggers and light up the web for social change!
