VP Sales & Customer Service
Outside In: A Forum For Customer Experience Professionals EMEA
Jesper E. Thomsen has built his 18 year career within the A.P. Moller-Maersk, a Danish conglomerate covering a wide range of activities from shipping, oil & gas to retail.
The majority of his time has been spent with Maersk Line, the world’s largest container shipping line with 325 offices in 125 countries – and 17.000 employees on-shore.
Nine of those years have been spent outside his native Denmark, and he has helped establish a Maersk Line presence in Africa and Russia, as well as merging the African activities of Safmarine and PONL, two large competitors that were acquired in 1999 and 2006 respectively.
Six years ago he returned from South Africa to the head quarter in Copenhagen. Initially developing the HR and learning strategy focusing on driving out cost and improving the effectiveness, three years ago becoming the Vice President for Customer Service. Today he also covers the sales function, and in total encompassing some 8.500 colleague, and has spent the time focusing (again) on driving out costs through off shoring and standardisation and at the same time improving the customer loyalty.
