Julie M. Bernard was appointed Group Vice President, Customer Centricity and Database Marketing in February 2009. She joined Macy's Marketing in December 2007 as Group Vice President, Media and Customer Analytics after spending two years at XRoads Solutions Group, a boutique consultancy based in New York. Previously, she was Senior Vice President, Business Process Design, Retail Systems and Vendor Relations at Saks Fifth Avenue Enterprises in New York.
In her current role, Ms. Bernard leads Macy's overall customer strategy and analytics initiative. She directs the development and continuous refinement of advanced customer segments, profiles, and associated marketing, merchandising, and service strategies by customer segment. In this work, she partners with cross-functional executives throughout the corporation to make Macy's more consumer- and customer-centric. She reinforces the "My Macy's" vision through the design and implementation of a comprehensive, systematic customer insights and "forensics" capability, consistently measuring customers' actual behavior and acting on the insights in service of generating positive sales and margin growth.
Ms. Bernard is a graduate of Hamilton College, graduating summa cum laude with bachelor of arts degree in government. Upon graduation, she was accepted into the Saks Fifth Avenue Executive Training Program and subsequently enjoyed 14 years in various executive positions throughout the organization, including merchandising, stores, planning, customer relationship management/clienteling, and IT.
