Executive Summary (This is a document excerpt)

Recently, Forrester surveyed 200 North American technology decision-makers about their firms' plans for security in 2005. Firms' emphasis on fast detection of network security incidents means that 15% already outsource some security functions, and 30% are at least somewhat likely to outsource security functions in 2005. More than 60% of interested firms will outsource penetration testing, and 53% will delegate network firewall operations to a third party. Thankfully, firms know that they must maintain security policy control — only 11% will consider outsourcing either regulatory or incident response functions.
