Who Is Using Organic IT Technologies?

North America Enterprises Generally Lead European Enterprises

by Michael Speyer, Frank E. Gillett

with Galen Schreck, Richard Fichera, G. Oliver Young

Executive Summary (This is a document excerpt)

Usage of Organic IT technologies in North American and European companies is firmly in the early-adopter stage. The difference in usage rates between the two regions is small, except for in grid computing, where European firms are nearly twice as likely as North American companies to be using it. The big distinction between the regions lies in awareness levels: Those of American firms are 1.5 to 2 times higher than their European counterparts, depending on the technology. Despite the favorable awareness rates, the combination of those who are not willing to adopt the technologies and those who are not aware of them presents a substantial barrier to broader market adoption.
