Hewlett-Packard Is Aggressively Investing In The Disaster Recovery Services Business

The Forrester Wave™ Vendor Summary, Q1 2006

by Colin Rankine

with Thomas Powell, Simon Yates

Executive Summary (This is a document excerpt)

At one time, Hewlett-Packard was a distant third to IBM and SunGard, but the company has established itself as a tier one provider of recovery services on a global basis. HP competes in the shared-resource "hot-site" recovery site services market, the managed recovery facility services market, and the support/consulting services market. HP has ostensibly outstripped market leaders IBM and SunGard over the past three years in terms of infrastructure investment and business growth. Although Forrester believes that HP has made substantial investments in competitive platform support to broaden the market appeal of its services, its core strength remains the support of largely HP-centric installations.
