The European PlayStation 3 Delay Surprises Nobody

But It Must Delight Microsoft And Nintendo!

Executive Summary (This is a document excerpt)

Sony today announced that it would push back the release date for the PlayStation 3 game console from Christmas 2006 to March 2007 in the EMEA region. Given the various reports of component shortages and the secondary importance of Europe to console manufacturers, it's hardly surprising news — but two months is short notice. It's bad news for Sony, but not the end of the world for developers, publishers, and retailers. The biggest beneficiaries? Microsoft enjoys a second holiday season without a viable Sony challenger, and Nintendo will potentially have the only new product launch during the busy retail period.
