The CA "Nouveau" Has Arrived

SWOT Analysis: CA, Q4 2007

This is the seventh document in the "IT Management Software SWOT, 2007" series.

Executive Summary (This is a document excerpt)

The past two and a half years have witnessed a complete transformation of Computer Associates into CA. The firm conducted a technology renewal during the period through its acquisition of Concord, Cendura, and Wily Technology, among others. The next step was obviously to integrate the existing products with the new and to build a consistent solution portfolio from disparate products. The CA "nouveau" is precisely that: It's not a "pie in the sky" vision but a down-to-earth, realistic approach that goes directly to the heart of the IT management problem. Three themes characterize CA's solutions: governance, business service management (BSM), and security management. CA has consolidated its product portfolio into these three areas and supported them with a stronger configuration management database (CMDB), which provides the technological foundation through a unified service model (USM) common to all CA solutions.
