On September 28, 2009, Xerox announced the purchase of business process outsourcing company Affiliated Computer Services (ACS), in a deal valued at approximately $6.4 billion. Xerox's acquisition sends a clear signal about the strategic direction of the document processing services (DPS) market — that DPS providers must add higher-value capabilities that link to or combine with core business processes.
