Director Social Media
As McDonald's first ever Director of Social Media, Rick Wion drives the strategy and execution of various that include brand-building, crisis and issues management and customer satisfaction and employee engagement activities.
Additionally, Mr. Wion is responsible for aligning McDonald's U.S. social media strategies and tactics with both global and local efforts, serving as McDonald's U.S. social media subject-matter-expert, including the identification and application of new trends and technologies to our ongoing efforts as well as the establishment of a consistent set of metrics to measure our progress and overall brand ROI.
Previous to McDonald's Mr. Wion worked for GolinHarris where he led the digital and social media practice for Golin's Chicago office. In his former role as Vice President of Social Media, Mr. Wion developed and implemented social media strategies for leading Fortune 500 brands including Unilever, Johnson & Johnson, Dow and McDonald's winning more than a dozen awards for various social media projects in the past four years. In addition to brand engagement strategy, Mr. Wion also counseled companies on effective organizational structure and collaboration around social media, as well as leading the development of new applications for social media, including testimony to the FDA on regulated pharmaceutical marketing.
Prior to GolinHarris, Mr. Wion was the Director of Client Technology at Smithbucklin Corporation where he consulted a variety of organizations and companies on effective strategies within digital marketing, e-commerce, customer service, collaboration and content development.
