About Forrester
Forrester Research, Inc. is an independent research company that provides pragmatic and forward-thinking advice to global leaders in business and technology.

Stefan is a member of Forrester's Business Technology Futures team, which serves CIOs and their business partners by predicting the long-term business impact of information technology. His research focuses on as-a-service business models and tech-driven business transformation, analyzing shifts in the IT industry caused by the ongoing move to business process platforms and the development of new-generation middleware capable of addressing the fresh challenges presented by cloud computing.
Stefan publishes for CIOs, software vendors, and cloud providers. He is a highly requested advisor on product strategies, messaging, positioning and portfolio development, and corporate strategy, including M&A strategies for technology vendors in the San Francisco Bay Area and in Europe. Stefan also helps CIOs reshape their role and establish new engagement models with their lines of business in the cloud computing decade. He covers globally the CIO and vendor strategy perspective of platform-as-a-service (PaaS); at the start of 2012, he also took over coverage of the traditional enterprise service bus and B2B integration products for all business technology roles. Stefan publishes Forrester Waves™ and market-sizing reports for the markets he covers.
Stefan spent more than 15 years in leading engineering, product management, and product marketing roles at international software vendors and startups. He came to Forrester in 2008 from Software AG, where he headed product management for integration technology (now WebMethods). Prior to this, he led the product management division for SAP's infrastructure NetWeaver. In addition to his experience on the vendor side, Stefan held a senior management role in the IT service spinoff of Deutsche Post in 2002 and was responsible for the company's portfolio management. He also led a system architecture division addressing consulting challenges on enterprise architecture across Deutsche Post and DHL. Prior to Deutsche Post, Stefan acquired startup experience with an eCommerce vendor and an CRM vendor in a CTO role.
Stefan graduated in physics from Stuttgart University and was promoted to Dr. rer. nat. (magna cum laude) in physics by the Max Planck Institute, Germany. His thesis explained pattern-forming phenomena in complex fluids based on simulations on supercomputers.
