Business architecture has been part of the enterprise architecture (EA) model from the beginning. It has also been the least well-defined and understood component of the four fundamental elements of EA: business, information, application, and infrastructure architectures. Business architects are struggling with defining their role, their deliverables, and their value proposition. Often, they create their definition of business architecture from a technology-centric perspective that doesn't resonate with business leaders. In this report, Forrester defines business architecture in the context of its goals and establishes a framework to structure what it produces.
