Event Overview
As the US and global economies struggle with recession, businesses will look to save money wherever possible. This will mean cutting technology spending, and many will put enterprise 2.0 spending on the backburner; this is a mistake.
At its core enterprise 2.0 ¿ the use of Web 2.0 tools like blogs, wikis, and social networks for employees ¿ is about increasing worker productivity, reducing operational inefficiencies and redundancies, and retaining knowledge and process. In many ways a recession is the perfect time to implement enterprise 2.0 tools and processes. Selling that vision to the business and decision-makers, however, is easier said than done.
This Workshop is an eight-hour seminar that examines the best thinking for approaching enterprise 2.0, finding tactical starting points, selling the vision, and ensuring success. The material presented is a practical guide to reinventing the business as a lean, efficient, 2.0 enterprise and draws on Forrester's extensive work with early adopters, practitioners, evangelists, and vendors. Participants walk away with a clear understanding of enterprise 2.0 and its value, a framework for approaching deployments, guidance for selling to everyone from the CEO on down, and all of the necessary tools to get their own deployments off the ground. If you are even thinking about Web 2.0 in the enterprise this Workshop is a must!
During this full day of presentations, hands-on exercises, and discussions, Forrester analysts teach you how to:
- Find value from new collaboration initiatives. Enterprise social networking tools stand ready to redefine workplace collaboration, adding new value to your organization's content by associating it with peers and experts. Discover which enterprise initiatives hold the most value for your company by reviewing lessons learned by early adopters and understanding how each tool is most beneficial.
-
Build your initiative. Many enterprises are not ready to use enterprise Web 2.0 tools, and technology planners need help understanding when these technologies will have the right combination of value and ecosystem support to best meet their employee collaboration needs. With your peers, learn which objectives and obstacles to prepare for and how these will impact your team as you prepare for approval and implementation.
-
Address Challenges to Enterprise 2.0. Above all else, enterprises cite budget limitations as the most significant obstacle to refreshing their network hardware, while also dealing with the challenges of potentially overburdening their IT group and the lack of skill sets needed for these new technologies in the workforce. Forrester analysts will show you how to find value, build organizational support, address employee resistance, and consider technology options that will support your efforts.
- Ensure the projects success. Much of the value of a Web 2.0 deployment is incremental and "soft" in nature, and as a result, clear business value measurement remains elusive. In addition, most firms continue to use traditional value measurement techniques like ROI and total cost of ownership when evaluating Web 2.0 deployments. Understand how to measure the value of these new tools quickly, while developing long-term value with key performance metrics.
