HP will re-brand the entire AppIQ Storage Authority Enterprise Edition platform as HP Storage Essentials. Storage Essentials, in turn, will plug into its existing HP Systems Insight Manager platform. Customers of the existing HP OpenView Storage Area Manager (SAM) product should see the writing on the wall. Although there has been no formal announcement regarding the future status of OpenView SAM, AppIQ is a superset of its functionality and provides enough integration with HP's hardware and software to replace it.
