Business Services Ecosystems For Banking: The Future Is Bright And Most Likely Heterogeneous

Vendors Use Multiple Approaches To Drive Semantic Business Services Specifications

by Jost Hoppermann

with Gene Leganza, Kahini Ranade

This is an excerpt

Executive Summary

Forrester surveyed application infrastructure, banking platform, and IT services vendors on their approaches toward semantic specifications of business services in the banking industry. We specifically probed their positions regarding business services ecosystems driving semantic specifications. The survey identified four groups of vendors that are working on open or vendor-specific business services ecosystems, trying to drive convergence of semantic standards, or participating in related activities. Scenarios for the future show that banks' enterprise architects will most likely have to deal with multiple heterogeneous business services ecosystems, as Forrester does not expect the drivers for convergence to succeed in a comprehensive way.
