Executive Summary

How should I organize my eBusiness team? This is one of the top three questions we hear from our eBusiness and channel strategy clients. To help answer that question we recently surveyed our eBusiness and channel strategy research panel to get to two major pieces of the puzzle: First, how eBusiness teams are commonly positioned within a company, and how they feel the team is supported; and second, the composition of the average team, and how that team is formed. We found that most eBusiness managers have a difficult time finding the best mix of business and technology skills; that a lack of a compelling career trajectory hurts retention and growth; and that that IT and development work are the most commonly outsourced functions within a team.
