Executive Summary

This Data Essentials document highlights key data points about US online consumers' adoption of the Internet and its various activities. Drawing from data gathered in our annual benchmark survey, we've created a visual snapshot of how US consumers are connecting to the Internet and what they're doing once they're there. Although there are more than 92 million households online, there is great variance in the overall adoption of online activities and time spent online. For social media, for example, the differences are quite widespread when you look across age groups.
