ISPs are still trying to devise an email sender validation specification that will be effective and practical. Last year's enthusiasm over Sender ID has fizzled, and now many are pinning their hopes on the next technology, DomainKeys. DomainKeys will likely meet with success among large senders and ISPs, but Sender ID still remains the most attractive specification for smaller organizations. Once the industry solves the validation challenge, it will need to move on to the next component of safe email: reputation services.
