EMEA IT Outsourcing Deals: Q1 2006

by Caroline Roeleveld-Hoekendijk, Andrew Parker

This is an excerpt

Executive Summary

To kick off Forrester's 2006 EMEA outsourcing deals survey, we have expanded our geographical coverage to include the Middle East and Africa, and introduced a new taxonomy for the vertical markets we describe, bringing better alignment with other Forrester research. European outsourcing activity in the first quarter surfaced some interesting new trends: For example, apps development and maintenance has returned to 2004 levels. Meanwhile, retail firms have shown a sudden burst of outsourcing enthusiasm, taking over as the leading sector in terms of deal numbers. Financial services firms showed less outsourcing zeal than usual. BPO vendors continued to have more visibility this quarter, bringing Capita to the top of the vendors list. Of course, not everything departed from the norms — and the UK continues to dominate as the home of outsourcing in Europe.
