Executive Summary

Vignette is a strong performer in enterprise content management (ECM) suites, with a solution that offers comprehensive, high-performance Web content management (WCM) and document imaging. However, Vignette's suite readiness is negatively impacted by a lack of common administration tools and the separate repositories required for WCM, document imaging, and integrated document and records management. Although team collaboration and content integration bolster Vignette's extended capabilities, along with its portal product, Vignette doesn't have a broad enough portfolio to be considered a major IT infrastructure provider alongside EMC/documentum, IBM, Microsoft, and Oracle. Vignette's ECM architecture focuses on J2EE and ECM components that can be assembled into content-centric apps.
