Executive Summary

Procuri began as a lower-cost self-service eSourcing competitor to FreeMarkets, and it continues to occupy this market position. Its current offering ranks in the middle of the pack in terms of functions, with good but not outstanding scores for RFx and reverse auctions and spend analysis (using a private-label version of SAS tools). Other functions scored in the average range. In terms of features, its purely shared-instance hosting option brings both strengths and weaknesses — the offering is strong and does provide good globalization, but integration is weak and does not offer a hosted single-instance offering. In terms of strategy, Procuri has used partnerships and small acquisitions to fill function gaps but still lags behind the leaders. It runs a tight ship financially and has adequate financial resources as a result. However, it will face competitive pressure from even lower-cost application service providers (ASPs) like Iasta and Perfect Commerce.
