Forrester has revised its forecast of enterprise IT services spending in Europe. This covers the 25 EU countries, Norway, and Switzerland. In addition to country-by-country analysis, the model offers a view of spending growth by service type, industry, and company size. The forecast shows a picture of sustained but moderate growth, with European spending achieving a CAGR of 6% over five years. European firms will spend a total of €146 billion on IT services in 2011. BPO and application outsourcing will attract the most increased spending. Even so, by the end of the period, the majority of enterprise spending will still focus on project-based services and infrastructure-related outsourcing. For many vendors, building scale — for example through acquisitions — to ensure top-line growth won't be sufficient in future. If vendors want to thrive, they need to innovate aggressively to adjust their businesses to the new dynamics of the IT services market and wider economy.
