Executive Summary
HCL has been providing SAP-related services since 1998. HCL's strength lies in the technical implementation and support area, as opposed to the process consulting area. Although it has deep expertise in several key verticals, HCL still does not have the high-level management consulting expertise to perform the pre-implementation process consulting required at the beginning of an implementation or global rollout. On the plus side, however, HCL's strong infrastructure management skills are critical to its ability to provide infrastructure support to SAP implementation projects and innovative SAP software-as-a-service (SaaS) solutions to medium- and small-size SAP shops. Furthermore, its engineering background makes developing customized, pre-built SAP solutions an important and obvious direction for HCL.
