IBM Is Still The Strongest In Unified Software Change And Configuration Management

The Forrester Wave™ Vendor Summary, Q2 2007

by Carey Schwaber

with Mike Gilpin, Jacqueline Stone

This is an excerpt

Executive Summary

In this evaluation, as in our 2005 evaluation, IBM proves to have the best unified software change and configuration management (SCCM) capabilities. Its strengths include platform support, scalability, and configuration management and change management capabilities. However, IBM's solution is still in need of more out-of-the-box process templates and better capabilities for customizing its included process template, Unified Change Management (UCM). Other weak spots include remote performance, administration, initial implementation time, and reporting and analytics. IBM has concrete plans to improve in all of these areas, notably through enabling the use of a single, centralized repository and introducing better utilities for administration and reporting.
