Executive Summary
IBM is a Leader in the human-centric business process management suites (BPMS) for insurance market. Leadership derives from IBM's BPMS product offering, dominant presence in the insurance market, focus on integration-centric BPMS in addition to human capabilities, strong integration with insurance applications through ACORD standards, and potentially through IBM's Insurance Application Architecture (IAA) framework. These strengths mitigated IBM's small installed base of BPMS for human-intensive and document-intensive processes in insurance. Importantly, our product evaluation took place before IBM announced plans to acquire FileNet. In buying FileNet, IBM will enhance its BPMS leadership position in the insurance sector by adding a strong human- and document-centric BPMS and a large installed base of tier one content-centric insurance applications.
