Executive Summary

In 2007, IBM will release a major new update to the Lotus Notes client and a minor release of the Domino server, as well as two new products: Lotus Connections for social computing and Lotus Quickr for team collaboration and document management. Also this year, IBM will revert to the Lotus brand for its collaboration software and will discontinue some of the Workplace-branded products, choosing instead to fold functionality currently in the Workplace products into the Lotus products. Given all these changes, enterprise architects, collaboration architects, and information and knowledge management (IKM) professionals must develop and document an enterprise collaboration strategy and map out their organizations' paths forward. It's also a good time to begin including social computing in the scope of enterprise collaboration strategies.
