Executive Summary

The Forrester Wave™ evaluation of enterprise apps software licensing and pricing assesses vendors against two distinct requirement sets: small- and medium-sized business (SMB) licensing requirements which favor user-based pricing, and large enterprise licensing requirements which value a choice of licensing metrics. IFS, a Swedish-based enterprise resources planning (ERP) vendor focused on the upper midmarket, provides its customers with a very simplified pricing approach — which causes customers to either rave or bemoan. The lack of choice hampers this vendor's ability to score well in this evaluation. In fact, IFS scored the lowest for user-based and usage-based metrics. Another significant area of improvement includes delivery and financing options which scored the lowest due to a lack of hosting, financing, software-as-a-service (SaaS), and lease to buy options. On the positive side, IFS scores among the top three for software life-cycle ownership costs and the vendor shows good support for the enterprise software licensee's bill of rights (LBoR). Overall, IFS should be considered by organizations seeking very simplified pricing models.
