InRule Technology is one of the innovative upstarts in the business rules market — an ambitious restart of a solutions consulting firm as a products company. InRule's Rete-based business rules platform is anchored by a developer IDE and also provides tools for creating user interfaces and a good repository. The InRule platform provides good basic business rules development features for Microsoft's .NET environment, although its integration with Microsoft's platform technologies and Visual Studio .NET is limited in the current release. InRule's pricing is aggressive, which is appropriate for its focus on .NET ISVs and solution providers. InRule lacks features for business analysts, a full range of rules modeling tools, and platform management tools.
