Executive Summary

As the world's major economies battle the oncoming recession, Forrester has examined how the key players in the IT services market have fared and how they are adapting their strategies to not only the looming downturn but also to the new technology ecosystem. Forrester's market momentum reports look at key measures of IT service provider and outsourcer activity to determine the health and progress of the industry. For the second half of 2008, we tracked 152 different activities across the four core categories of mergers and acquisitions, partnerships, new services and solutions, and changes in go-to-market and delivery strategies. We noted that M&A activity was significantly down from H1 2008, while partnership activity remained strong.
