Market Update: European Systems Integrators Up Their Investments In Green IT Services

by Christopher Mines

with Ellen Daley, Heidi Shey, Christina Lee

This is an excerpt

Executive Summary

European systems integrators (SIs) Getronics, Orange Business Services, and Siemens IT Solutions and Services are stepping up their efforts to build consulting and implementation practices helping clients plan and implement green IT programs. These investments are consistent with Forrester's market forecasts and enterprise survey data, which predict that European companies will be the early adopters of green IT and that Europe therefore will be the most attractive geography for services providers. All three providers have broad and impressive capabilities, with some limitations in terms of serving clients outside of Europe and in helping clients implement "IT for green" programs outside of the IT organization. Continuing entry of credible and capable service providers heightens the importance of selective positioning and industry expertise in firms' quest for differentiation.
