Executive Summary

Metastorm is a strong performer in human-centric business process management suites (BPMS), and given its recent acquisition of CommerceQuest, Metastorm also provides an integration-centric BPMS, Traxion, not evaluated in this Wave. Metastorm e-Work's strengths reside in its ability to leverage Microsoft platforms, integrate with a number of leading document management (DM) products, and provide an easy-to-use interface for process participants. Weaknesses lie in the details — like numerous wizards that may require hand-coding or restarting, confusing process maps, and too much reliance on third-party tools. But e-Work is highly competitive, leverages Microsoft products, and Metastorm has a promising product strategy to execute in 2006 to 2007.
