Mobile Device Usage: Who's Footing The Bill

by Chris Silva

This is an excerpt

Executive Summary

iPhone users are devoted to their devices, so much so in fact, that they're willing to foot the bill. While not the majority of users in most enterprises, a growing number of employees are supplying their own devices and service and taking these personal -- or employee-liable -- devices to work. The US stands in stark contrast to the UK and Canada in terms of the abundance of companies that will supply a device and service -- a corporate-liable device -- to their users. It's time for IT to embrace the large and growing installed base of smartphones that enterprise users are taking to work with them every day. The result will foster employee satisfaction by supporting preferred platforms like iPhone and will save the organization money by reducing the number of devices and service plans that must be budgeted for.
