This is an excerpt
It's no surprise that 360Commerce is an acquisition target: as a small pure-play POS vendor with strong technology and some marquee customers, it was only a matter of time. It's also no surprise that Oracle is the acquirer, given the vendor's continued appetite for retail software. In general, retail interest in POS vendors is still high, even though the market for POS software has peaked after the latest round of refreshes. Why? POS rounds out store solution footprints and will play a strategic role in retailers' consumer-centric strategies over the next few years. Now that Oracle has made a bid for 360Commerce, what's next? Look for a few more acquisitions to build out a complete retail solution for Oracle, as well as initial plans for more innovative combinations from its ever-expanding retail portfolio.
