The Polish economy has successfully moved from communism to a market economy. After a slowdown in 2001 to 2003, the economy is picking up steam again and the outlook is optimistic — although there are still some hurdles ahead. Polish consumers lag in technology ownership and Internet usage, but they are likely to narrow the gap quickly with Western Europe once incomes increase. Buying online overall is still in the starting blocks, but it is already at Southern European levels when we compare online consumers across countries.
