Executive Summary

There is great opportunity in the market for PC maintenance and protection services, but current offerings have failed to evolve with the changing PC market. With PC adoption rates near saturation and price points dropping rapidly, extended warranties and accidental damage insurance are far less appealing than they were at a time when PCs were an investment and expected to last for years. Instead of focusing on protection, the next wave of PC services needs to work with consumers to enable exploration and expansion, to provide fewer diagnostics and more integration, and, above all, to start adapting to the shifting needs of today's consumers.
