Executive Summary

Oracle's Application Server 10g was the surprise in our evaluation of application server platforms. The product is well-known as a bundle of Oracle's middleware products; the surprise was how much progress Oracle has made in weaving its application server, portal server, and integration server into a cohesive platform. Oracle Application Server 10g's administration and management are also strong, and the company's acquisition of Collaxa provides the platform with a leading BPM tool and platform. The major weakness of Oracle's platform is its complexity — there are still many "moving parts" that can be complex to install and manage.
