SOA Software provides strong security and management for services, and it has one of the strongest strategies for SOA policy management based on the emerging set of XML and Web services standards. However, it focuses more narrowly on the service-interface level and not as much as others on deep ties to management of the underlying platforms where services run. The company's financial stability is bolstered by its consulting business, from which it originally built the foundations of the Service Manager product. It has achieved one of the largest customer bases among the pure-play service-oriented architecture (SOA) management vendors.
