Sun Microsystems enters our evaluation of the integration-centric business process management suite (IC-BPMS) market via its acquisition of SeeBeyond Technology (one of the leading vendors in the integration space) in summer 2005. Sun has accepted the leadership baton for these integration tools and is aggressively moving forward with a strategy of making this technology more widely available through the efforts of its large sales and marketing organization and related open source initiatives. Sun's Java Composite Applications Platform Suite (CAPS) provides strong features for addressing organizations' service-oriented architecture (SOA) and business process management (BPM) needs. The acquisition has raised a potential concern about a sustained focus on BPM features, however, and the vendor's scores in this section are slightly lower than the primary competition, so this will be an area to monitor going forward.
