Executive Summary

2006 has shown a significant upswing in client interest around branch office architecture. To better understand how firms are tackling branch network modifications, we inquired about interest in connectivity, security, and optimization technologies. What did we find? Enterprises, regardless of region, company size, or industry, are first looking to IP VPNs to improve their branch office network connectivity over the next 12 months. Overall, integrated security equipment is the second-most sought-after branch office network technology. And surprisingly, we found that technology preferences didn't differ by geography — although North Americans have more aggressive adoption plans than Europeans. Business services and manufacturing enterprises are among the most interested in using the five technologies that we asked about in a recent survey about improving branch networks.
