This document gives highlights of an extensive data set collected across North American and European enterprises via our Business Data Services Enterprise Governance And Sourcing Survey in July 2006. A key finding of this study is that centralized vendor management groups exist in exactly half of all business services firms; an additional 11% of companies in this sector plan to create a centralized vendor management group within the next 18 months. These groups most frequently reside within the IT organization (57%) and are most heavily involved in hardware, software, and telecom purchases, and in monitoring vendor financial and market strength after the contract is signed.
